Illidan Stormrage, the Betrayer

Appearance: Towering over seven feet in height, Illidan is an elven man, with long pointed ears, and a very buff, muscular body. His skin has a purpleish hue to it, much like other Night Elves, and his long black hair is pulled away from the face in a high half-up style with strands falling to frame his face. Adorned with a blindfold, his eyes are actually long gone, replaced with orbs of mystic fire that glow green through the fabric of the blindfold. Illidan has green, arcane tattoos that cover his chest and sometimes glow the same green as his eyes. His chest often bare, though occasionally covered with a tanned leather vest that matches his pants and the leather boots he wears.

Personality: Illidan is typically of the more quiet and brooding sort, though he won't leave his opinions unvoiced if he feels there's need for it. Though he doesn't actively seek out confrontations a good bit of the time, when the situation demands, he'd rather meet it head on, magic blazing. When it comes to the things that he believes in, Illidan will defend them to death, and the defiance and betrayal of his own family and people. If the world doesn't work the way he thinks it should, he'll do everything in his considerable power to make it that way. Illidan is unafraid in general, fearlessly working with demons and facing Sargeras, the evil titan, without batting an eyelash. He is not easily startled.

Abilities/Weaponry: Through his mystic fire eyes, Illidan is capable of seeing any and all kinds of magic as it weaves its patterns before his face. Despite the fact that he's blindfolded, this ability works, and it also lends itself to sight in general, helping him to know where he's going without having actual sight to guide him. Illidan is also adept in the use of the Highborne magics, capable of casting Arcane spells of any magnitude. He is only limited by his magic reserves and creativity in this regard. The Night Elf also has considerable skill in melee fighting, aided by two blades called the Warblades of Azzinoth, which are like double-bladed swords that arc toward his body.
Weaknesses: Although Illidan is able to see magic, without any kind of magic in the area, he is rendered completely blind, though by no means completely helpless. His magic sight is also negated when an area is completely covered in the same amount of the same kind of magic. With his magic reserves completely tapped, Illidan becomes an easier target, losing the bulk of his power and might. He is also easily manipulated by those who know how to push his buttons.

History: Although a Night Elf by birth, and brother to perhaps the greatest Druid that Azeroth has ever known, Malfurion Stormrage, Illidan Stormrage is a man, elf, driven by his own desires and concerns. From a young age, Illidan delved into the arcane magics of the Highborne Kaldorei, completely denying his heritage and his greater destiny for the the druidic magics. He cast aside any attempt at mastering the magics of the land when he discovered the sorcery of the Highborne, and became adept in their use. He became the personal caster of the Night Elf military leader, Kur'tolas Ravencrest.

With the invasion of the Burning Legion, the demons from the world of Draenor, Illidan agreed to aid his brother, Malfurion, in fighting off the invaders. Upon hearing of Malfurion's plan to destroy the Well of Eternity, source of the Highborne magic and the elves' long lives, Illidan abandoned his brother's cause, seeking another way. Feigning allegiance to the Queen Azshara and the demon Mannoroth, Illidan forged a new plan, one to seek out the Demon Soul, which had the power to close the portal by which the demons were entering Azeroth. To do this, Illidan had to gain power, and that meant changing his plans.

Illidan was eventually brought before Sargeras, the fallen titan, and in return for allegiance, the titan granted Illidan a "gift". Illidan's eyes were gouged out, to be replaced with orbs of mystic fire that allowed him to see all forms of magic, and he was granted arcane tattoos that glowed with the same fire. And then, the elf returned to his search, this time intent upon finding the Demon Soul to enable Sargeras to enter the world. Of course, he never intended to allow Sargeras entrance to the world.

As all things go, Malfurion, of course, found the Demon Soul first, and Illidan met him with Azshara's forces, taking the artifact and using it for its new purpose--to send the demons back from whence they came. However, before the portal could open, the spellwork was disrupted, and the artifact returned to the hands of Malfurion and his supporters. With the Demon Soul out of his hands, Illidan was unable to prevent the destruction of the Well of Eternity, and with it, the destruction of the demons.

After the Well's destruction, Illidan climbed the peaks of Mount Hyjal, where he found a small, tranquil lake. With the lake at hand, and three vials of water from the now destroyed Well, he created a new Well of Eternity, pouring the vials into the lake. He was caught by Malfurion, and others of the Night Elf leadership, all of whom were horrified by his actions. Malfurion tried to explain to Illidan that the arcane energies would only bring destruction, but Illidan was not swayed and felt no remorse for his actions. Provided with this evidence, Malfurion had Illidan imprisoned below Hyjal, locked far from sight and mind. And there he was intended to stay for eternity, under the watch of a contingent of Night Elves.
